our branches

Thank-you so much for visiting our website.

The Learning Library is a registered charity that provides a unique service of loaning out specialist resources to anyone with additional needs within County Durham on a short-term basis completely free of charge.

Our resources are wide and varied covering many themes and needs. Examples include:-

  • Weighted resources such as lap pads, shoulder snakes and vests
  • Spinning resources such as egg chairs, whizzy dizzy’s and carousel seats.
  • Fine and gross motor skill resources such as games, or themed discovery boxes with various themes such as circus
  • Sensory lights including bubble tubes and fibre optics right down to smaller hand-held lights
  • Outdoor games as well as specialist tricycles

As we have over 4000 resources, listing them simply doesn’t do them justice. Why not check out the catalogue page on this website or head on over to our Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/thelearninglibraryspennymoor) where all of our resources are in the albums section.

Our service is available by means of an Outreach Worker. Our fantastic team of 4 Outreach Workers work geographically throughout the County. This means that our members will get to see the same worker, and build up a relationship with them. Our Outreach Workers will work closely with their members to establish which resources are best suited to their individual needs, and offer advice and expertise on what may be a suitable option, and these resources are delivered straight to our members’ homes.

If you are interested in becoming a member please contact us via phone, e-mail of Facebook messenger and let us know which area of County Durham you live in. We do also accept referrals from outside agencies, so long as they have the consent of the individual of their representative to share their information with us.
